This movie holds true to the reviews although it’s nothing new in story line, it is visually stunning. Metropolis (2001) is a anime that combines the plot of the manga and the German silent film from 1927 (both have the same name as the anime). It’s about technology, robots, class, revolution, power, and the wrath of the Gods. It asks the viewer to contemplate the same questions that we prefer to ignore.

When the film was originally released it received positive reviews, but just twelve years later I think the film holds even greater truth about society today. Funny how that works isn’t it?

But what else should I expect from an all star production team like Rintaro and Katsuhiro Otomo.
